Macrowhisper: Automation Helper App for Superwhisper
Macrowhisper is now available - a free automation companion for Superwhisper that lets you create voice commands, open URLs, integrate with Shortcuts, and unlock powerful new ways to control your Mac!
Hey everyone,
I’m really excited to finally share that Macrowhisper (the app) is out! For the past month and a half, I’ve been talking about this upcoming update to Macrowhisper for Superwhisper. What I thought would be a little side project ended up becoming this incredibly big thing. I spent so many hours working on this - debugging, learning new stuff, getting frustrated when things wouldn’t work, and then finally finding solutions. After all that back and forth, I’m super happy to say it’s ready. I made a video explaining what it is, how to set it up, and how the whole configuration file works.
So in short - Macrowhisper is basically a helper app for Superwhisper. Superwhisper is already amazing for dictation by itself, but with this new tool you can create commands with your voice, send your dictations to shortcuts, connect it with other apps, run AppleScripts, and more. It really depends on how you want to use it. If you’re more of a basic user, you can keep it simple - even just having url voice commands is super handy (you can say “ask Google” and then ask something, or “ask YouTube” and search for whatever you want).
I know that this being a CLI app might feel a bit intimidating for some people, but I really tried to make it as approachable as I could think of. At the same time, I wanted to keep it powerful for those who want to go deeper. If you get stuck or run into any issues - and I mean, I’ve been testing this for weeks and fixed so many things - but if you find something that can be reproduced, just shoot me an email or open an issue on GitHub. I’ll be happy to help you out and make this even better.
Superwhisper has been incredible for my productivity. I still love typing and it doesn’t totally replace that, but it really helps me organize my thoughts and put my ideas into structure. Sometimes for scripts, sometimes for outlines, sometimes for replying emails. As a productivity tool and it’s saved me so many hours, so I’m really happy to put this together for the community. Happy to go back to my normal life and get some good sleep after this release. It’s been few weeks tough.
